What is Backfilling?

Backfilling is the process of putting soil back into a trench after the construction or excavation work is finished. Because cables, pipelines, and other buried elements are often involved, special considerations must be taken into account to help prevent damage and impact loading.

Although there are a variety of ways to backfill, we use conveyor trucks, also called rock slinger trucks to accelerate the process, saving you time and money. Our conveyor trucks can transport 20 tons of material at a time and reach as far as 75 feet away, ensuring accurate placement.

Underground Tank Backfilling Material

There are various backfill materials to select for your backfilling project, including self-compacting materials and recycled aggregates. It all comes down to the soil conditions and contract specifications.

Generally, for underground tanks, sand, gravel or sand/gravel mixes are the preferred materials.

We understand that every soil has unique characteristics and that every job requires different soil. We can custom blend soil that your soil engineer has deemed appropriate for your application.
